Power Automate terms explained
Power Automate has its own vocabulary. These are the most important terms, with the Dutch term next to each for when you use the Dutch interface or read a Dutch guide.
- Flow stroom (Dutch)
- An automated process made of a trigger and one or more actions. In Dutch menus it is often called a "stroom".
- Trigger trigger
- The event that starts a flow, such as a new email or a fixed time.
- Action actie
- A step that does something, such as creating a file, sending an email or adding a row.
- Connector connector
- The link to an app, such as Outlook, Teams, SharePoint or Excel. Every app provides its own triggers and actions.
- Condition voorwaarde
- A yes/no question in your flow. If the answer is true, the actions in the True box run, otherwise those in the False box.
- Dynamic content dynamische inhoud
- Data from earlier steps that you can use in later steps, such as the sender of an email or the name of an attachment. You pick it with the lightning bolt button next to a field.
- Loop (Apply to each) lus
- A block that repeats the same actions for every item in a list, for example for every attachment.
- Expression expressie
- A small formula that calculates something, such as today's date. You type expressions via the fx button next to a field. Function names are always in English.
- Approval goedkeuring
- A request that the flow sends to someone, via Teams and email. The flow waits for the answer and then continues.
- Table in Excel tabel
- Data in Excel that is formatted as a table, with a name and headers. Power Automate can only read rows from such a table.
- Run history uitvoeringsgeschiedenis
- The overview of all the times your flow has run, with what happened in each step. This is where you look for errors.
